Eastern Bloc enthusiast, I couldn't miss the Zaisan Memorial on the hill at the southside of the Ulaanbaatar city. This socialist monument honors the fallen Mongolian and Soviet soldiers who fought against Nazi Germany and Japanese Kwantung Army in World War II, and its circular mosaic mural in the style of
socialist realism is simply breathtaking. Proud communist Mongolia is still alive here. Ura!
イースタンブロックマニアとして、ウランバートルの南側にある丘に建つザイサンメモリアルを見逃すわけにはいかない。この社会主義モニュメントは、第二次世界大戦中にナチスドイツや大日本帝国関東軍と戦って命を落としたモンゴルとソ連の兵士たちを悼むために作られた。
社会主義リアリズムの手法で描かれているリング状のモザイク壁画が実に見事。誇り高き共産主義モンゴリアが、まだここで生きている。ウラー！
