Along with the
Western City Gate, Belgrade has another king of socialist architecture in the eastern part of the city. It is the Eastern City Gate, a landmark on the hill, completed in 1976, earlier than the Western City Gate. These three staircase-like wedge-shaped high-rise apartments are built in a circle, and if you look at them from the sky, they appear to form a gigantic three-pointed star with an empty core. The amazing thing about Belgrade is that it has two magnificent brutalist gates in the west and in the east, and the downtown is sandwiched between these gems.
ウェスタンシティゲートに加えて、ベオグラードでは社会主義建築の王がもう一人、街の東側に建っている。丘の上にそびえるこのランドマークはイースタンシティゲートという名前で、西のゲートより早く1976年に完成した。ここでは階段状になった楔形の高層アパート3棟が円の中に配置され、空から見ると、中央が空白の巨大なスリーポインテッドスターを形作っているように見える。街の西と東に壮麗なブルータリストの門を持ち、その2つのお宝に挟まれた位置に中心市街地がある。ベオグラードはおそるべき都市。
