A TRAIN DAY IN THE CHUETSU REGION: HOKUETSU EXPRESS HOKUHOKU LINE

Riding trains in the middle of Niigata Prefecture starting from Muikamachi Station. The first one is the HK100 series EMU of the Hokuetsu Express Hokuhoku Line. This line used to be the main route connecting the Tokyo metropolitan area and the Hokuriku region, including Kanazawa, until the Hokuriku Shinkansen was completed. But now it is one of the typical regional rail services in rural Japan.

六日町駅を起点にして、新潟県の真ん中でいろいろな列車に乗ってみる。まずは北越急行ほくほく線のHK100形電車から。北陸新幹線が完成するまでは、この路線が首都圏と金沢を含む北陸エリアを結ぶメインルートだったが、今では日本の地方によくあるローカル線の一つになっている。

Arrived at Tokamachi. I came to this city when I was a child just to see a huge amount of snow.

十日町に到着。子どもの頃、大雪を見るためだけにこの街を訪れたことがある。
