FRECCIARGENTO

This is the train that will take me from Venice to Padova today. It's the Frecciargento high-speed service operated by Trenitalia, which uses the ETR 700 EMU. The ETR 700 was designed by Pininfarina and was originally developed for the high-speed rail service in the Netherlands and Belgium. I got a bulkhead solo seat for a 14 min trip.

今日ベニスからパドヴァへ連れて行ってくれるのは、ETR 700電車を使用したトレニタリアの高速列車「フレッチャルジェント」。ピニンファリーナがデザインしたETR 700は、もともとはオランダとベルギーの高速列車用に開発された車両だった。バルクヘッドのソロシートを確保して、14分間の旅に出る。

Buying a ticket was super easy. I just went to the Trainline app on my iPhone. I was even able to assign a seat. The purchased ticket appeared in the Wallet app. In the past, I had to write down the train schedule I found in the Thomas Cook European Timetable on a piece of paper and take it to the ticket counter at the station to buy a ticket. What an evolution!

切符を買うのは実に簡単。iPhoneにあるTrainline Appを開くだけ。座席の指定もでき、買った切符はウォレットAppの中に入る。その昔はトーマスクックのヨーロッパ鉄道時刻表で見つけた列車のスケジュールを紙に書きとめ、それを駅の窓口まで持っていってチケットを買っていたのに、なんという進化！

And the ticket included a cup of pre-dinner coffee.
そして切符には、一杯のプリディナーコーヒーがついていた。
