BUSSING TO MESTRE

At Venice Marco Polo Airport, a.k.a. Tessera Airport, I got on an airport bus bound for Venezia Mestre rail station, which was operated by ATVO, to catch a train to Padova.

パドヴァへ向かう列車に乗るため、ベニス・マルコポーロa.k.aテッセラ空港からヴェネツィア・メストレ駅までATVO社が運行するエアポートバスで移動する。

Spotted some good-looking Italian trains at Mestre Station. This is the ETR 675 EMU operated by Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori (NTV) as the Italo service. NTV is an Italian open access train operating company founded by people like the former chairman of Ferrari/Fiat/Alitalia and the chairman of Tod's. The sleek train looks somewhat like a Tod's shoe. The ETR 675 is a high-speed train called Pendolino EVO built by the French manufacturer Alstom. Pendolino means a small pendulum, but this train is not a tilting train.

メストレ駅にはハンサムなイタリアの列車たちがいた。こちらはヌオーヴォ・トラスポルト・ヴィアッジャトーリ（NTV）社が「イタロ」ブランドで運行しているETR 675電車。NTVはフェラーリ／フィアット／アリタリアの元会長やトッズの会長といった人たちが作った、上下分離方式のオープンアクセス鉄道オペレーター。洗練された列車のデザインはなんとなくトッズの靴っぽくもある。ETR 675はフランスのメーカーであるアルストムが手がけた高速電車で、「ペンドリーノ・エヴォ」と呼ばれている。ペンドリーノとは「小さな振り子」という意味だが、この車両は振り子電車ではない。

The pride of Japan, bearing the name of an Italian genius. This ETR 521 EMU named "Caravaggio" was developed by Hitachi Rail Italy, a subsidiary of the Japanese manufacturer Hitachi. Caravaggio is operated by Trenitalia for the regional service and is branded as "Rock".

日本の誇り。でも名前はイタリアの天才からいただいた。このETR 521電車「カラヴァッジオ」は、日立製作所の子会社である日立レール（イタリア）が開発した車両。「ロック」というブランドを持つ、トレニタリアのリージョナルサービスで使われている。
