SUIROKAKU AQUEDUCT

I remember I first saw this 19th century red brick water bridge in an old Japanese movie when I was a kid. And the bridge has been haunting me ever since and has become my most favorite spot in Kyoto. For the first time, I walked for a while along the canal.

19世紀に作られた赤煉瓦の水道橋「水路閣」と初めて出会ったのは、子どもの頃に観た古い日本映画の中だったと思う。それ以来、ここのことが頭にこびりつき、京都で最も好きな場所になった。今回初めて、疏水に沿ってしばらく歩いてみた。
