HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO: CHECK-IN

My home in Kyoto this time is The Mitsui. The one-year-old hotel in a convenient city center location is the second Marriott Luxury Collection hotel in Kyoto, along with the Suiran in Arashiyama, and the first luxury hotel operated by Mitsui Fudosan—the developer of the apartment I'm living in—under the Mitsui brand. Before The Mitsui was built, Kyoto International Hotel, opened in 1961, stood here, and the site was originally a residence for the Mitsui family, the founder of the conglomerate including Mitsui Fudosan. So the name of the hotel quite makes sense.

今回の京都での家はThe Mitsuiにしてみた。オープンしてまだ一年のこのホテルは、中心市街地の便利な場所にある。マリオットのラグジュアリーコレクションブランドとしては、嵐山の翠嵐に続いて京都で2つ目。そして僕が住むマンションのデベロッパである三井不動産が、自らの名を持つラグジュアリーホテルを運営するのはここが初めて。The Mitsuiが作られる前、この場所には1961年に開業した京都国際ホテルが建っていた。もともとは三井不動産を含む企業グループの創始者である三井家の邸宅があった土地なので、ホテルの名が三井を語るのは筋が通っている。
