TRAIN-ING IN HOKURIKU: TOYAMA CHIHO RAILWAY FUJIKOSHI LINE AND MAIN LINE

Toyama Chiho Railway is like a vintage train club. The EMU I took from Minami Toyama to Dentetsu-Toyama terminal was the ex-Keihan 3000 series built in the 70s. It was originally introduced for Keihan's flagship limited express service between Kyoto and Osaka, so it feels wonderfully overspeced when used for the local operation in the countryside.

富山地方鉄道はまるでビンテージトレインクラブのよう。南富山駅から電鉄富山駅まで乗ったのは、70年代に作られた元京阪の3000系電車。もともと京都と大阪の間を突っ走るフラッグシップ特急用の車両だったため、地方路線の鈍行で使われるとなかなかオーバースペックで素晴らしい。
