There is a tea salon on the top floor of
SOKI ATAMI, and it has a stage-like balcony overlooking the ocean. I ordered a cup of Shizuoka tea—because I happened to be in Shizuoka Prefecture— then I found it was served with the
yokans prepared by
Tokiwagi Yokan Shop, a more than a hundred-year-old Japanese confectionery shop in Atami. I like how the most modern hotel in the area pays respect to a long-standing local brand.
SOKI ATAMIは、海を見晴らすステージのようなバルコニーが付いた茶寮を最上階に持っている。せっかく静岡県にいるので静岡茶を一杯頼んでみたら、100年以上の歴史がある熱海の老舗、
常磐木羊羹店の羊羹が添えられていた。地域で最もモダンなホテルが、歴史ある地元ブランドにちゃんと敬意を払っている感じが素敵。
