SHIMOYOSHIDA STATION AND BLUE TRAIN TERRACE PART2

Shimoyoshida Station is accompanied by a small outdoor rail museum called Shimoyoshida Blue Train Terrace. Their main exhibit is a JNR Suhanefu 14 sleepercar once used for the overnight long-distance limited express/express service generically known as Blue Train. The car exhibited here at a station near Mount Fuji has a rollsign showing a train name "Fuji". "Fuji" is the oldest train name in Japan and the overnight sleeper limited express service "Fuji" had been operated between Tokyo and Kyushu until 2009.

下吉田駅には「下吉田駅ブルートレインテラス」という小さな屋外鉄道ミュージアムがついている。一番の見ものは、一般的に「ブルートレイン」として知られる、夜行の長距離特急や急行で使われていた国鉄のスハネフ14寝台車。富士山の近くにある駅に置かれたこの車両のテールマークは「富士」になっている。「富士」は日本で最も古い列車名で、寝台特急「富士」は2009年まで東京と九州の間を走っていた。

A stuffed head of a JNR 169 series EMU. The car was originally used for the express service in Gunma and Nagao areas.

国鉄169系電車の頭部の剥製。かつて群馬や長野周辺の路線で急行用に使われていた車両。

The gallery also has classic Fujikyuko trains. This one is the 2000 series EMU used for the Fujisan Limited Express service. Fujikyuko purchased these cars from JR East and repainted them with a cartoonish Mount fuji face.

ギャラリーにはクラシックな富士急行の車両たちも置かれている。この2000形電車はフジサン特急で使われていたもの。もともとJR東日本にいた車両を購入し、富士山のキャラとともにリペイントして走らせていた。

And the 5000 series EMU. This model was developed only for Fujikyuko from scratch. Kids may love its Thomas-themed special livery, but it doesn't look beautiful.

こちらの5000形電車は富士急行のために設計された車両。子どもたちはトーマスの特別塗装を気にいるかもしれないが、決して美しくはない。
