A TRAIN DESIGNED BY AN ARCHITECT

Taking a day trip to Chichibu on Seibu Railway's latest EMU, the Seibu 001 series a.k.a. "Laview", for the limited express service. This train is designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning architect Kazuyo Sejima, whose notable work includes the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa.
西武鉄道の最新型特急用電車である西武001系、またの名を「ラビュー」に乗って秩父へ日帰りの旅に出かける。この車両は、金沢21世紀美術館などの作品で知られるプリツカー賞受賞建築家、妹島和世氏によってデザインされた。

Arrived at Seibu Chichibu Station. The train with oversized panoramic windows is stunning, but unfortunately what you can see through these windows is just another Tokyo suburb and not that much noteworthy.
西武秩父駅に到着。極端に大きなパノラミックウィンドウがついた車両は素晴らしいが、残念ながらその窓から見えるものはよくある東京の郊外の風景で、特筆すべきものではない。
