I suddenly had the notion of going to a completely non-touristy place. So I drove a Chrysler 300 to Fresno, California.
突然、観光っぽさがまったく無い場所に行きたくなったので、クライスラー300を飛ばして、カリフォルニア州フレズノに向かった。
After a long drive, I arrived at downtown Fresno and found myself filled with joy as I discovered this sleepy city has tons of architectural gems. I started my self-guided tour from this Warnors Theatre built in 1928. They say Herbert von Karajan played at this theater in the Spanish Colonial Revival style with the Berlin Philharmonic in the 1950s.
長いドライブの後、フレズノのダウンタウンに到着したら、眠ったような街の中に建築的至宝が山ほどあることがわかって狂喜。まずは1928年に作られたワーナーズシアターから探索を始めた。1950年代にはヘルベルト・フォン・カラヤンが、ベルリン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団と共にこのスパニッシュ・コロニアル・リバイバル様式の劇場でコンサートを行ったらしい。
