THE SACRED WALL

The next stop in the Old City was the Western Wall a.k.a. Wailing Wall. The wall was originally built in the pre-Christian era as part of the Second Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount and is the holiest place to pray for Jews. Jews are touching the wall, but as an outsider, I stood at a respectful distance from the praying area by the wall and just watched the site. It looked too sacred.
オールドシティ探索の次のスポットは、ウェスタンウォールa.k.a.嘆きの壁。神殿の丘に建つ第二エルサレム神殿の一部として紀元前に作られたこの壁は、ユダヤ教徒にとって最も神聖な祈りの場所になっている。ユダヤ教徒は壁に触れているが、部外者である自分は敬意を表して壁に沿った祈りの場所から少し離れた場所に立ち、ただ見学するだけにした。神聖さのレベルが違う感じがしたので。
