MANDALAY CITYSCAPE

Mandalay's downtown has gridded streets with large blocks and it is surrounded by sprawling suburbs which are less attractive. In a way, it's like LA. This is definitely a unwalkable city especially in scorching heat. And because the city doesn't have regular public transportation, you need to hire a taxi, or rely on a motorcycle taxi most likely driven by a regular person rather than a professional driver.
マンダレーのダウンタウンの道はグリッド状になっていて、それぞれのブロックがかなり大きい。その外側では、魅力の乏しい郊外がとめどなく広がっている。ある意味LAのようで、どう見ても歩ける街ではない。特にこの酷い暑さの中ではなおさら。しかも通常の公共交通機関がないので、タクシーを手配するか、バイクタクシーに頼るしかない。で、バイクタクシーを運転しているのは、ほとんどの場合、プロのドライバーではなく普通の人のように見える。
