This is my second home in Yangon following
the Strand. It looks like a resort in the jungle, but this hotel run by Belmond, formerly known as
Orient-Express Hotels, is located in city center. As its name implies, the two-story teak mansion built in 1920—the current main building with restaurants, shops, and a bar—served as the official home of the governors of the British Crown Colony of Burma. They say the structure of the main building is exactly the same as the original.
ストランドに続き、ここが僕のヤンゴンでの2軒目の家。かつて
オリエントエクスプレスホテルズと呼ばれていたベルモンドが運営しているこのホテルは、まるでジャングルの中に建てられてリゾートのよう。でも、実際は街の中心部にある。現在はレストラン、ショップ、バーを持つメインビルディングになっている2階建てのチークの邸宅は1920年に作らたもので、その名が示す通り、英領ビルマ総督の公邸として使われていた。この建物のストラクチャーは完全にオリジナルのままだという。
