Following a stay at
the Marriott, I checked into another iconic grand hotel in central Yerevan. This hotel was originally opened in 1928 as Hotel Yerevan, the first hotel in Soviet Yerevan, and was called Intourist Hotel between 1930's and 50's. It is currently operated as one of Royal Tulip properties. Royal Tulip's parent brand Golden Tulip Hotels was founded in the Netherlands, as its name implies, and once was an affiliated company of KLM. Now Royal & Golden Tulip belong to Louvre Hotels Group owned by a Chinese state-run company. Times have changed.
マリオットに続いて泊まるのは、エレバンの中心部にあるまた別のアイコニックなグランドホテル。このホテルは、ソビエト・エレバンで最初のホテル「ホテルエレバン」として1928年に開業した。30年代から50年代にかけてはインツーリストホテルと呼ばれ、現在はロイヤルチューリップのプロパティになっている。ロイヤルチューリップの親ブランドであるゴールデンチューリップホテルズはその名が示すようにオランダで生まれ、かつてはKLMの関連会社だった。でも今ではロイヤルチューリップもゴールデンチューリップも、中国の国有会社が所有するルーブルホテルズグループに組み込まれている。時代は変わった。
