This airport used to be served by the MD-87 jet. Facing the financial crisis, JAL announced the withdrawal of all routes from here, and this modern airport is now struggling to survive. When I think of JR's slow Azusa Express, which takes about 2.5 hours from Shinjuku to Matsumoto, I feel that commuter flights from Haneda may be possible if the HND slots will are expanded.
